The sink is one of the most frequently used utensils in the kitchen. It is wear-resistant, scratch-resistance, non-stick grease, environmental protection and health have always been the direction that people pursue.
Today I want to talk to you about a serious topic: Your sink may be really poisonous.
Toxicity mainly comes from two aspects: first, the material is toxic and harmful to the human body; second, the nano-coating is harmful to the human body. Let me explain it in detail below. If you want to choose a stainless steel sink in the near future, you must carefully understand it.
Material is harmful to human body
A large part of the sinks on the market are made of 201 stainless steel.
201 stainless steel was developed to replace 304 stainless steel. During World War II, the United States lacked nickel ore, so manganese was used instead of nickel to make 201 stainless steel. 201 is not as good as 304 in performance and is easy to rust. More seriously, it is used in sinks and tableware. There will be a large amount of manganese precipitated, which is harmful to the human body, especially children.
It is recommended to choose food-grade 304 stainless steel, also known as 18/8 stainless steel, which contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. 304 stainless steel has very good corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, ductility and toughness, and the metal The ingredients are very stable and can reach food grade. It is recommended to choose a sink made of 304 stainless steel.
Special attention should be paid to 304 recycled materials; the price is very different from new stainless steel materials, and its performance is similar to 201. Most recycled stainless steel sinks are sold online.
Nano coating is harmful to human body.
The nano coating is hydrophobic and oleophobic, easier to take care of, and has a Mohs hardness higher than stainless steel itself, so many people choose nano sinks.
However, many countries currently have no standards and requirements for nano-coatings. The problem arises here. Most nano-sinks in the world are not food grade.
Nano sinks must reach food grade and must have food grade certification, such as US EDA certification, EU AP certification, German cutlery certification, etc.
Most of the nano sinks currently sold on the market are non-food grade, so it is recommended that you choose nano sinks carefully, do not blindly follow the trend, or choose nano sinks with food grade certification.
Kitchen sinks should be chosen from the following:
1、For food-grade 304 stainless steel, 201 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel recycled materials cannot be used.
2、Choose food-grade certified nano coatings, otherwise don’t choose nano sinks.
3、PMMA type granite sink is the highest safety level and most environmentally friendly kitchen sink in the world today.
